11.05.2017: Update

A lot seems to have happened since I last creeped on here. Its so difficult to find the time to just sit down and write about what’s been going on.

Where to begin?

The degree show will begin it’s hanging process for postgraduates next week. I’m really lucky I have grey painted walls that shouldn’t need too much touching up (in comparison to the uprooted walls I painted with at least 5 coats of white paint for the undergraduate). Just how much space I will have is unfinalised at the moment, but should become clearer next week.

Here are little snippets of some of the works that will be on show;

These three paintings are the main body. They are called Seventeen, Eighteen and Nineteen. These paintings are the most intrusive and personal paintings I have ever produced in my short life, looking at my state of mind and the complexity of my emotions. Titling the works as their number in the sequence refrains from any sort of prejudice or projection of subject matter.

Something I am really eager for is to listen to what others see in this work. What are their perceptions? I hope to have a book where members of the public can comment their thoughts.

Nineteen, detail

So it seems I haven’t actually taken any photos of the other smaller pieces potentially going into the exhibition. These will be either/or/neither the series of framed crops of the painting, Sixteen, and a series of 15cm diameter paintings, using the same palette as their larger family members, but the brushwork a little less ‘drippy’. (I shall take some photographs when hanging next week).

….that’s all really. It doesn’t seem much but the past couple weeks have been so tiring with trying to finish the last painting in the series. Simply cannot wait to have the work on display. Happy and anxious.

On a side note, my studio space will be no longer mine from September, so I am looking to clear out my paintings sat there before they get taken away/destroyed. I’m having a 50% off sale on all pieces in my Etsy store, so head over to https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/SarahRachaelsArt?ref=hdr_shop_menu  if you are interested in buying some art work!

Hopefully I will remember to post up photographs of the hanging process, and to keep my blog up to date.
